40th Polar Symposium

Prof. Przemysław Niedzielski and Dr. Juliana Souza-Kasprzyk took part in the 40th International Polar Symposium – Arctic and Antarctic at the Tipping Point, held at the Polar Research Museum in Puławy from November 4–7, 2025. The event was organized by Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, the Polar Research Museum, the Polish Polar Consortium, and the Committee on Polar Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences. This 40th anniversary edition brought together researchers from Poland and abroad to discuss current challenges in Arctic and Antarctic studies.  

Prof. Niedzielski served on the scientific committee and chaired the session “Analytical Chemistry in Polar Regions: Specificity, Challenges, and Harmonization.” He also delivered a thought-provoking talk: “Where Does Analytical Chemistry Come From and Where Is It Going in the Polar Regions?” Dr. Souza-Kasprzyk presented her preliminary results in the talk “Legacy of Coal Mining: Trace Element Contamination in Soils from Billefjord, Svalbard.”
